Puppy Manners is a fun kindergarten class for puppies age 5 1/2 months and under that focuses on off leash play and socializing. Puppies gain friends and learn how to have positive interactions with dogs while owners learn how to build communication and leadership skills with their new pup. The class begins July 11th at our Capitol Hill location at 7pm and runs for 6 weeks. Class is aimed at taking the American Kennel Club Puppy Star Test for no extra charge!
Basic Obedience is an on leash beginner class and a great place to start if your pooch has never done any formal obedience. Bring balance and communication to your relationship with your dog. All dogs need an education, all training is simply communication. Jeff will teach you to be a strong and effective canine communicator and to motivate and have fun with your dog. Basic Obedience begins (to be announced) at our Elliott location at 7pm and runs for 6 weeks.
Started in 1989, The Canine Good Citizen Program is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The CGC Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club. In a little over one decade, the Canine Good Citizen Program has begun to have an extremely positive impact in many of our communities. This is a program that can help us assure that the dogs we love will always be welcomed and well-respected members of our communities. Contact Jeff to learn about obedience brush up packages aimed at taking and passing the CGC Test or just to schedule a test date for your already well behaved pooch.

Miss August Phoebe the 3 year old French Bulldog is a star training pooch with the biggest ear to ear Frenchie smile you have ever seen! Phoebe, or “Phoebes” has been coming in for training with Drew since December of 2010 and has really come a long way. This cream colored cutie has been a fabulous training student and has made some very impressive progress. When Phoebe first started coming into DDL and began training she was very unsure of strangers and had some reactive and aggressive behavior toward dogs. With some careful guidance from our trainer Drew and lots of homework for her owners Phoebe has made a lot of friends at DDL, both pooches and humans alike! She loves our staff and wiggles with joy to greet everyone when she comes in. During training sessions Phoebe has worked hard on leash manners and obedience. Her enthusiasm and drive is outstanding! Phoebe also is a regular at Shy Dog Play Camp where every week she spends time and makes friends with a small group of mellow dogs. Phoebe looks like a French bulldog but has the heart of a retriever because she lives to play ball and chase anything that moves! Phoebe runs so quickly after toys that she looks like a cartoon character as she peels out on our slippery floors trying to chase the ball. Phoebe is a star on our Facebook page and our “Training with Drew” photo albums. Phoebe is so adorable and photogenic she’s a great subject to photograph while training here at DDL or out and about around town. Phoebe is in the Sounders fan club! She loves to sport Sounders scarves and colors on match day! We are all so proud of Phoebe and her parents for all the hard work to turn around some reactive behavior. Great job Tim, Megan and Phoebe and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
